Updated for February 2022: In this Kajabi review post, I talk about my I moved from Clickfunnels to Kajabi. As a marketing tech expert, I have worked with several different marketing platforms, and in this post, I talk about what I love about Kajabi, and some of the drawbacks, to help you make the right decision for your business. Kajabi recently added 2 new features – Coaching and Podcasts and I cover these two in this updated version of the blog post.
Kajabi is an all in one marketing platform that offers you the features of several tools in one.
This post contains affiliate links. Please read disclaimer.
In this Kajabi review, I am going to give you an insight into the platform as well as my opinion on the platform.
Ever since I started my business, I have been using a combination of Clickfunnels and Convertkit.
As my business grew and I started adding courses to the mix, I knew it was time to switch to a more sophisticated platform since I am not very fond of the Clickfunnels membership portal.
I had been experimenting with Kajabi for a few clients and loved the fact that you could use Kajabi to build out your entire business, including a website. This is perfect, especially for service based businesses who are not focused on blogging and do not want to spend weeks on building a website on WordPress.
Update : I have been using Kajabi for the last one year, and absolutely love it.
Table of Contents:
You can build a website in Kajabi as a one stop shop for you blog, your courses/ memberships as well as other pages, such as services, about etc. The website feature is great if you are looking to use Kajabi as an all-in-one platform for your business and don’t already have a website on WordPress.
Kajabi also provides you with the option of hosting your blog on the platform, along with some built-in SEO features.
You can create digital products, courses and memberships on Kajabi. Kajabi has several templates that you use, or start from scratch. It is possible to customize pricing, delivery and packaging.
3. Checkout Platform
Kajabi also provides a checkout platform ( integrated with your payment processor) so you don’t need a 3rd party platform like Samcart or Thrivecart. Kajabi has a 0% transaction fee for all plans.
Kajabi gives you the ability to create different pages that go into your sales funnels, as well as website pages.
The page builder is comparable to any other sales funnel builder and helps you create beautiful designs.
Since your course/ membership is hosted on Kajabi, there is a smooth transition from sales page to order form to course login.
5. Email Marketing
Kajabi comes with a classic email builder as well as a visual builder to help you create customizable emails with video, timers and more.
Kajabi provides automations where you can tag and segment your users based on their actions, so you can personalize experiences for them.
The community aspect in Kajabi gives you a space to host your paid community for courses. This is a great substitute for Facebook groups. And is helpful, especially with the constant changes in Facebook’s policies.
8. Video hosting
You can upload your video content right into Kajabi, without having to host it on a 3rd party platform like Vimeo. Kajabi provides the power and delivery of Wistia, built in at no additional cost.
9. Coaching on Kajabi
Kajabi recently added a new feature where you can now use the Kajabi dashboard to set up coaching sessions with your clients, share resources with them as well as track their progress. Kajabi also lets you set up different packages for different coaching offers.
10. Podcasts on Kajabi
Another new Kajabi feature is that it provides you the tools to help setup your own podcast. You have one dashboard to create and publish your podcasts, distribute them to all major listening apps and monetize your podcast.
Kajabi comes with a 14-day free trial which you can use to test the platform here.
The basic plan starts at $149/ month when billed monthly, or $119 / month when billed annually.
The basic plan does not include the ability for creating an affiliate program and if you plan to have an affiliate program for your courses, you will have to use a 3rd party platform.
You have the ability to set up 1 domain, 3 products and 3 pipelines ( sales funnels) on the basic plan.
The growth plan costs $199/ month when billed monthly, or $159/ month when billed annually.
The growth plan includes more of everything in the free plan plus advanced automations, the ability to remove Kajabi branding, as well as the ability to set up an affiliate program.
The pro plan costs $399/ month when billed monthly, or $319 / month when billed annually.
It includes more of everything included in the growth plan along with a code editor that lets you customize your pages and courses.
Pros of using Kajabi
1. All in one platform
One of the main reasons why I recommend Kajabi to my clients is because it is an all in one platform which means you can use one platform for your website, sales funnels, email marketing and course/ membership hosting.
2. Community aspect
Kajabi is probably one of the only 2 platforms I know of that give you the ability of hosting a community ( like a Facebook group). The other is Mighty Networks which has a very confusing interface, although starting a community on Mighty Networks is free.
3. Mobile App
I have mentioned this before but this is one of my favorite features. Before Kajabi came out with their mobile app, Teachable was the only course hosting platform that had a mobile app.
But now that Kajabi has one too, it has become really easy for students and clients to access course/ membership material on the go.
4. Customer Support
It is easy to reach out to Kajabi support via email. They have a great community on Facebook.
5. Online Course Assessments
All Kajabi pricing plans come with the ability to create assessments in the form of quizzes and surveys.
It is well known that online course completion rates are very poor. These assessments can help students engage better with the trainings and learn better.
Creating surveys can help course creators understand and get feedback from their students so that trainings can be improved.
6. Kajabi Affiliate Program
You can promote Kajabi as an affiliate once you sign up as a member. Kajabi offers 30% recurring commissions for anyone who signs up using your link.
Drawbacks of using Kajabi
Spending $150 a month is not affordable for new businesses, which makes sense. You could instead use Elementor, the wordpress page builder to build a website and funnels, along with a free email autoresponder like Convertkit.
2. Tech overwhelm
If you have never used marketing tools before, Kajabi might be a little overwhelming. But you can follow Youtube videos or take a short course to get your setup in place.
You can also hire an expert if your business can afford it.
Kajabi vs Clickfunnels
Clickfunnels is a sales funnel builder. Although it does have a course hosting feature, it is not as sophisticated as the one available in Kajabi.
You can use email marketing on Clickfunnels only if you are on the $297 / month plan.
Clickfunnels email marketing feature is not the best.
When I first started my business, I used the Clickfunnels $97 plan, along with Convertkit.
There is no doubt that Clickfunnels was my favorite sales funnel builder, but there comes a point in your business when you want to have all your assets on one platform, and that’s where Kajabi comes in.
Kajabi is built for course and membership hosting but works equally well for building sales funnels.
And with all the other features, like being able to blog and host a community, Kajabi is a no brainer.

Kajabi vs Teachable
Teachable is a course hosting platform, whereas Kajabi is an all in one platform.
When you use Teachable, you need a number of different platforms, such as Clickfunnels for Sales funnels, convertkit for email, and Zapier to connect all of these together.
Kajabi offers you all of this as a one stop solution.
Both platforms are comparable when it comes to their mobile apps, you can be logged into multiple school accounts under the same email address.
I am not very fond of Teachable’s free plan because it does not provide enough features, and has a high transaction fee.
If you are looking for a free course hosting platform, check out my Membervault review.
Kajabi vs Mighty Networks
Mighty Networks is a platform that is heavily focused on community.
Mighty Networks does have a free plan, but with a lot of limitations such as you cannot charge for your course on the free plan, which means if you are selling a paid course, you will need a third-party sales page builder,
I have been a part of 2 courses that used Mighty Networks as their course hosting platform.
The platform interface is complicated especially if you are the end user, and I know more than a few people who switched to other platforms from Mighty Networks.
I tried using Mighty Networks as a community platform instead of Facebook groups, but a lot of my students don’t want to login into another platform, since they are already a part of a bunch of groups on Facebook.
I have seen a similar sentiment from others in Facebook groups.
My Kajabi Review:
As you can clearly see, Kajabi features clearly outweigh the drawbacks.
If you are a new business, would I recommend Kajabi?
But if you have been in business for a while and have a consistent revenue stream, I would highly recommend you give Kajabi a try.
You can get started with a free 14- day trial here.
My two favorite features apart from the all in one platform advantage are the building a community aspect, and the mobile app.
As a consumer, the mobile app is really helpful for consuming content on the go.
You can also start promoting Kajabi as an affiliate once you become a user. The Kajabi affiliate program offers 30% recurring commissions for every signup, which means if 4 people sign up and use Kajabi with your link, you will have more than made up for your Kajabi costs. 30% recurring on $150 for 4 people is $180. ( 0.3*4*$150 = $180)
How much can Kajabi save you?
If you are using different platforms for each part of your business, here’s how much you will spend:
Clickfunnels : $97
Convertkit : $29
Teachable/ Membervault : $39
Vimeo : $7
Zapier : $10
Total : $172/ month
Kajabi is $149/ month with the added benefit of everything being on one platform.
